So I have to share Cole's "Mom Moment" from last night. I was at Young Womens and since we are trying to get the girls to not have their cell phones, I had to put mine on silent. Not to mention that I was also in charge of the activity and had 18 girls to show how to decorate paint cans. As I was taking the girls home at about 9:15, I looked at my phone and noticed I had 3 missed calls and a text message. I looked to see who had called and it was Cole. I called him back and asked him if he needed something and he was not very happy. I listened to him for a minute and realized this wasn't the time I should be chatting with him about his night, so I told him I would talk to him when I got home.
When I returned home I was greeted ever so lovingly with--"Why the hell didn't you answer your phone" as I calmly explained to him the rules of Young Women he said, "Well tonight was horrible and I needed your help. I was giving Ashlyn a bath and she pooped in the tub (remind you, she has been sick) so I pulled her out of the tub so I could clean it up and she pooped on the damn rug!" He was very animated and at this point I am trying REALLY HARD not to laugh. He continued, "Then I grabbed her and put her back in the tub because I was about to throw up so I was hovering over the toilet saying, 'Please don't throw up, please don't throw up' and Ashlyn was looking at me and couldn't figure out what was going on. (I was thinking-Of course she was-Mom doesn't do that) I tried to call you so you could come home and help me" Which he really means--Clean it up for me.
So I told him..."Oh so you had a mom moment! Congratulations! Welcome to my week! :)" He told me that since I'm a mom I should keep my phone on at Young Womens in case of an emergency. I told him that this really doesn't constitute an emergency and if it was THAT bad he could have called his mom or my mom since they are only about 7 minutes away. He also told me that he can't handle bodily fluids and that it makes him sick. I asked him if he knew of anyone who enjoyed dealing with bodily fluids. It's not like I've seen many ads on TV or in the Newspaper: NOTICE: Got a sick kid? Poop and Throw Up Galore? Call me-I enjoy cleaning it up! Anyway, it was hilarious, I can picture a grown man with his arms wrapped around the toilet as his baby sits in a dirty bath tub staring at him with wide eyes thinking "Where on earth is my mother?"
Then tonight Ashlyn has a stinky diaper and he calls me in and says, "I can't handle this anymore, you need to change her." I said, "Excuse me? I don't think so, you need to buck up and get over it. I'm sorry, but you don't just get to quit contributing after 19 months of having a baby! Welcome to parenthood!" So...he changed the diaper. :)
So in reference to my earlier post, I couldn't help but think--"And HE found joy..."

And when he finds joy, so do you :) It's the little things isn't it? Way to be!
So funny! I have personally experienced the pooing in the tub drama. Fortunately Billy was nice enough to clean the bathtub while I held Hailey over the toilet. I'm glad Cole survived!
That is HILARIOUS!!! Way to stick up for yourself!!! I love that you told him it wasn't an emergency!!! So funny! I can't stop giggling! I can picture this whole interaction going on and you trying not to laugh while you try tell let him know that he really will live to fight the poop monster another day!
