UTAH 48 BYU 24

WOW! What a game! We had a great time cheering on the Utes to VICTORY and bragging rights for the next year!! My throat is a bit sore from all the yelling and cheering, a small sacrifice but well worth it.

Here are a few shots of the game. Once I get pictures from my sister, I'll post proof that I was there :) I was able to go with my Dad, brother and sister and their spouses (thanks Mom for giving up your ticket!!) My darling husband stayed home with the babe. I found out that he actually watched the game at his parents and found it "Interesting" I think he is slowly
converting to liking at least Ute Sports.
The Wild Fans. They only had their shirts
off for a little while because it was COLD!
The Ute Band

Here Come the UTES!! There was almost a
fight before the game even started!
Kick Off

Going for another Touchdown!

3rd Quarter Utah 41 BYU 24

The signs went up! This one said, "BYU-
You can't fast and pray your way out of this one!!"

The sign on the left says--"Hey Collie, Who is "Living Righteous" Now 12-0. Cougs have fun in Vegas. A little background--Apparently last year #9 Collie told the press that the reason BYU was winning was "Because that's what you get when you live righteous"
And the sign on the right says--It's not a quest for us!! It's just what we do!!!! 12-0 This is referring to the BYU coach who's motto is "Quest for perfection" Ha!
The BYU fans started leaving early--there were still 7 minutes left! The crowd waved good-bye to them and sent them on their way back to Provo!
The Crimson Wave!! People started rushing the field to Celebrate. Final Score Utah 48 BYU 24
Can you say...BCS???

Discovery Zone

My friend Jessica and I took our kids to the Discovery Zone at the Gateway. We were hoping there wouldn't be any schools on field trips, but there were. It wasn't too bad though. I forgot my camera-DUH! So I had to use my cell phone to take the pictures. Ashlyn and Jonah had a great time. So did Jess and I, we laughed the whole time. I was determined to get to do the news on KSL. Those Teleprompters move quick! Our breaking news story was about an Old Lady who Swallowed a Horse. Jonah and Ashlyn sat at the news desk too. We told them to tell us the news and Jonah says, "Well, Obama is the President." It was so funny.

We also had Ashlyn and Jonah do the weather for our broadcast.

One of the highlights was the adorable play town they have set up. We spent a lot of time in that area. We went grocery shopping and to the farm, we planted flowers at the house, drove in the car and Jonah filled it with gas. Ashlyn was a police officer for short time.

Watch out for Officer Ashlyn

Ashlyn serving me cake for dinner. Yummy!

Waiting for her total...it was $2.50 according to the cashier. Oh if only!
The other highlight was the Life Flight Helicopter donated by IHC. It's cool because they have it make real helicopter sounds. Ashlyn was thrilled to "ride" in the back the whole time. The only problem we had was kids not sharing or taking turns and their air head mothers standing around and not paying attention to their little "darlings". UGH...I hate it when people think their kids are the cutest ever and we should all step aside while they run around doing whatever they please. A little bratty boy came over and nudged Ashlyn out of the way and said, "It's my turn" Ok hello little 6 year old. She's 2 and it is currently her turn. We told him to go play with the other one. Then Jessica had a little girl come up and rip a magnet board right out of her hand!

We also went to the drama area so Jonah and Ashlyn could but on a puppet show. Jessica also learned how to make a movie one picture at a time. Her movie was Eskimos facing a bear attack which later turned into a wild boar because Ashlyn took the bear.

It was a fun day and both of the kids fell asleep on the way home. I'm really enjoying these outings!!

IT'S GAME DAY!!!

In Honor of the Utah Utes, I would like to post the songs of the Fight Song so you all can sing along!

"Utah Man"
I am a Utah man, sir, and I live across the green.
Our gang, it is the jolliest that you have ever seen.
Our coeds are the fairest and each one's a shining star.
Our yell, you hear it ringing through the mountains near and far.

Chorus:
Who am I, sir? A Utah man am I.
A Utah man, sir, and will be till I die.
Ki! Yi!

Verse Two:
We're up to snuff; we never bluff, we're game for any fuss,
No other gang of college men dare meet us in the muss.
So fill you lungs and sing it out and shout it to the sky,
We'll fight for dear old Crimson, for a Utah man am I.

Repeat Chorus

Verse Three:
And when we prom the avenue, all lined up in a row,
And arm in arm and step in time as down the street we go.
No matter if a freshman green, or in a senior's gown,
The people all admit we are the warmest gang in town.

Repeat Chorus

Verse Four:
We may not live forever on this jolly good ole sphere,
But while we do we'll live a life of merriment and cheer,
And when our college days are o'er and night is drawing nigh,
With parting breath we'll sing that song: "A Utah Man Am I."

Repeat Chorus

Disclaimer:
*the following joke may be offensive to a certain type of fan...please remember, it's all in joking fun*
Someone once told me--"Cheering for BYU is like being in the Special Olympics, even if you win, you're still retarded!"

GO UTES!!

Well since THE game of the YEAR is this SATURDAY, I wanted to post some pictures and a video of Ashlyn and I watching the Utes playing TCU. Cole could care less about sports, but I love watching the Utes sports. I actually had to pay $12 for the sports package from DirecTv so I could get the College CBS station and watch the game. I was annoyed but it was worth it!

Disney On Ice

Last week my mom and I took Ashlyn to Disney On Ice. I haven't been since I was 7 years old and got to blow out Donald Duck's 50th Birthday Candles...he couldn't do it himself.

I really wanted to take Ashlyn because I knew she would love it and she's free. I can't believe they want to charge $36 for a toddler's ticket. Our seats were on the 4th row! The only thing that occasionally blocked my view was the balding man in front of me.
When we got there I told my mom that I wasn't going to buy anything and that I had snacks and a princess doll in the diaper bag for Ashlyn (Thank you Michelle for the tip!) She tells me, "Oh she HAS to have something to remember this." So she buys her a $10 sno-cone that comes in a Mickey cup. Then we get $10 Cotton Candy that comes with a princess crown with Mickey ears (retail price is probably $2)!! I told her that was enough now that she's broke! Honestly! How do families afford to go? That's almost a trip to Disneyland!

The Sno-Cone and The Crown
Anyway, it was a lot of fun and we had a great time. Ashlyn was watching so intently that I couldn't even get her to look at me for a picture. She sat on my mom's lap the whole time. The show went through a variety of Disney stories and reports say that there were over 60 different characters. They also had most of the princesses. I was disappointed that they left out Sleeping Beauty--they had Pocahontas but no Aurora?!? Now Ashlyn tells us as she waves her hand around in circles "Snow White, round and round and round on ice." I had Disney songs running through my head the rest of the night!
Here are some pictures for your enjoyment. :)
This is a TERRIBLE angle, thanks lady--you could have stood up!

Goofy is my favorite!

WOW!

Ashlyn's Birthday Party

A few weeks ago we had Ashlyn's Birthday Party. She had an Abby Cadabby party. Earlier in October, my mom and I took her to the party store to let her pick her party theme. She was so funny! We walked in and they had their Halloween stuff out. She walked by and said, "Oooo" then we went to the girl birthday party section. My mom was showing her the Dora stuff since Ashlyn really likes the Dora books my mom has. She said no. We showed her the doggies, Tinkerbell, Sesame Street, Abby Cadabby, Hello Kitty, and then she saw the Backyardigins. "This, this" she said. I picked them up and said, "You want the Backyardigins? You don't even know who they are!" She has never seen them and really I'm not familiar with them either. So I told my mom we will walk around a bit and then return to this isle and see if she still wanted them.

After looking around the store for a few minutes we returned to the isle and I got her out of the cart and said, "Ok pick what party you want to have" Thankfully, she went for the Abby stuff. It wasn't my favorite (but neither were the Backyardigans) and I told my mom that Abby sometimes drives me crazy. My mom told me that Abby isn't going to actually BE at the party, just her picture will so I have nothing to worry about. Ok true. And the stuff was pretty cute.
Ashlyn insisted on getting party hats. If she could have had her way, the three of us would have walked out of the store wearing the party hats. She was so excited.

My nephew's birthday party was two weeks before Ashlyn's so she had a chance to see what goes on at a birthday party. She was very excited about the balloons Isaac had at his party. I told her we would get her balloons for her party too. I also ordered a cupcake cake. They are the best because you don't have to worry about cutting the cake and one kid getting a bigger piece than the other kid. I was a little concerned when I received a message the day of the party from the bakery telling me that they couldn't figure out how to make the cake look like Abby so they just did a picture print on top. Ok see I'm not a baker, so I have no idea what that means. At this point I was just hoping there was a cake waiting for me!

We got Ashlyn ready in her cute little cupcake outfit and headed off to my parents for the party. Ashlyn LOVED the decorations and party hats. As people arrived, she would come to the door and then lead them into the room with the party hats. Everyone had to put one on to please her. It was really cute. Both sides of our families were there which is so nice to have such great support.

We started by opening presents and really we could have just given her one thing and she would have been thrilled. After each gift, she wanted to play with it. It didn't matter if it was a toy or a piece of clothing. I had to keep taking the gift away and convincing her to come and open the next one. My sister made her an adorable quilt and she held it up to her face and said, "ooohhh soft" it was so funny. She received so many fun gifts-toys, books, play-doh, clothes, etc. Everyone was very generous. She has loved having all these new things to play with and wear!

Right before her birthday I took her to Toys R Us to pick out a couple of toys. I wanted to get her things that she would play with. In looking around she picked out the BBQ grill that you will see in the pictures. She loved it. I kept asking her, "Are you sure you want this?" "Yep, this" "You don't want this doll instead?" "No, this" she insisted so that is what we got her. She has cooked for us every day since!

After the gifts it was time for cake which was delicious. I had ordered half chocolate and half white cake. Ashlyn mainly ate the frosting and then wanted everyone else's frosting. We had a great time and it was a cute little party. :)
