WOW! What a game! We had a great time cheering on the Utes to VICTORY and bragging rights for the next year!! My throat is a bit sore from all the yelling and cheering, a small sacrifice but well worth it.

Discovery Zone
My friend Jessica and I took our kids to the Discovery Zone at the Gateway. We were hoping there wouldn't be any schools on field trips, but there were. It wasn't too bad though. I forgot my camera-DUH! So I had to use my cell phone to take the pictures. Ashlyn and Jonah had a great time. So did Jess and I, we laughed the whole time. I was determined to get to do the news on KSL. Those Teleprompters move quick! Our breaking news story was about an Old Lady who Swallowed a Horse. Jonah and Ashlyn sat at the news desk too. We told them to tell us the news and Jonah says, "Well, Obama is the President." It was so funny.
We also had Ashlyn and Jonah do the weather for our broadcast.

Waiting for her total...it was $2.50 according to the cashier. Oh if only!

Disney On Ice
Last week my mom and I took Ashlyn to Disney On Ice. I haven't been since I was 7 years old and got to blow out Donald Duck's 50th Birthday Candles...he couldn't do it himself.

Ashlyn's Birthday Party
A few weeks ago we had Ashlyn's Birthday Party. She had an Abby Cadabby party. Earlier in October, my mom and I took her to the party store to let her pick her party theme. She was so funny! We walked in and they had their Halloween stuff out. She walked by and said, "Oooo" then we went to the girl birthday party section. My mom was showing her the Dora stuff since Ashlyn really likes the Dora books my mom has. She said no. We showed her the doggies, Tinkerbell, Sesame Street, Abby Cadabby, Hello Kitty, and then she saw the Backyardigins. "This, this" she said. I picked them up and said, "You want the Backyardigins? You don't even know who they are!" She has never seen them and really I'm not familiar with them either. So I told my mom we will walk around a bit and then return to this isle and see if she still wanted them.
After looking around the store for a few minutes we returned to the isle and I got her out of the cart and said, "Ok pick what party you want to have" Thankfully, she went for the Abby stuff. It wasn't my favorite (but neither were the Backyardigans) and I told my mom that Abby sometimes drives me crazy. My mom told me that Abby isn't going to actually BE at the party, just her picture will so I have nothing to worry about. Ok true. And the stuff was pretty cute.
Ashlyn insisted on getting party hats. If she could have had her way, the three of us would have walked out of the store wearing the party hats. She was so excited.
My nephew's birthday party was two weeks before Ashlyn's so she had a chance to see what goes on at a birthday party. She was very excited about the balloons Isaac had at his party. I told her we would get her balloons for her party too. I also ordered a cupcake cake. They are the best because you don't have to worry about cutting the cake and one kid getting a bigger piece than the other kid. I was a little concerned when I received a message the day of the party from the bakery telling me that they couldn't figure out how to make the cake look like Abby so they just did a picture print on top. Ok see I'm not a baker, so I have no idea what that means. At this point I was just hoping there was a cake waiting for me!
We got Ashlyn ready in her cute little cupcake outfit and headed off to my parents for the party. Ashlyn LOVED the decorations and party hats. As people arrived, she would come to the door and then lead them into the room with the party hats. Everyone had to put one on to please her. It was really cute. Both sides of our families were there which is so nice to have such great support.
We started by opening presents and really we could have just given her one thing and she would have been thrilled. After each gift, she wanted to play with it. It didn't matter if it was a toy or a piece of clothing. I had to keep taking the gift away and convincing her to come and open the next one. My sister made her an adorable quilt and she held it up to her face and said, "ooohhh soft" it was so funny. She received so many fun gifts-toys, books, play-doh, clothes, etc. Everyone was very generous. She has loved having all these new things to play with and wear!
Right before her birthday I took her to Toys R Us to pick out a couple of toys. I wanted to get her things that she would play with. In looking around she picked out the BBQ grill that you will see in the pictures. She loved it. I kept asking her, "Are you sure you want this?" "Yep, this" "You don't want this doll instead?" "No, this" she insisted so that is what we got her. She has cooked for us every day since!
After the gifts it was time for cake which was delicious. I had ordered half chocolate and half white cake. Ashlyn mainly ate the frosting and then wanted everyone else's frosting. We had a great time and it was a cute little party. :)
